The Plymouth-Canton Civitans service numerous
candy boxes in our area. They also have purchased several service
dogs for people with disabilities through Paws with a Cause, sponsor the
Special Olympics Bowling at Plaza Lanes and donate to Cooke School for
their Pointe Store.
The work with Canton Leisure Services by
volunteering at the Liberty Fest Parade, Make a Difference Day,
Christmas in Action and help maintain Kinyoun Cemetery on Ridge Road.
Members have assisted the Plymouth Community Council on Aging at some of
their special luncheons and Ice Cream Social.
The Civitans also volunteer every year at the
MS Walk and Diabetes Walk. They ring bells for the Salvation Army
and adopt families for the holidays donating food baskets and presents.
Operation Good Cheer is another project for the holidays and presents
are purchased for children in Foster Care. For Focus Hope, member pack
food baskets for distribution and volunteer for the Focus Hope Walk.
They maintain a planter in downtown Plymouth
and clean Ford Road between Lilley and Canton Center for
Adopt-a-Highway.
The Club sponsors an annual Essay Contest for
Plymouth-Canton High Schools where the winners receive prizes totaling
$1000. The also hold a highly-acclaimed youth leadership seminar
every summer for teens. Another project is Camp Civitan which is a cabin
camping experience for adolescent and adult campers with mild to
moderate mental impairments. |
